KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Great Lakes Christian College women's soccer is one win away from a national championship after a 3-0 win in the national semifinal against four-seed Trinity Baptist College on Thursday.
Top-seed Great Lakes put the pressure on early, but despite the substitute-less Trinity playing with only 10 on the field after an injury, they could not find a goal and the teams went to halftime tied 0-0.
Randi Fitzgerald finally put GLCC ahead in the 58th minute and Emily Rector followed her up six minutes later to give Great Lakes a 2-0 cushion. Fitzgerald would add one more for good measure in the 79th and GLCC secured their spot in the championship game.
Great Lakes out-shot Trinity 17-6, putting six on frame to TBC's one. Malia Fry made her one save and got the clean sheet for Great Lakes.
Rylie Kramer picked up a yellow card for GLCC and Kaia Rice and Isabella Fiallos were booked for Trinity.
Great Lakes will play for a national championship on Saturday against Arlington Baptist at 2:30 p.m.
