WYOMING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's soccer will stay atop the national polls after knocking off #2 Grace Christian on the road on Wednesday, 2-0.
Neither side could find a breakthrough in the first half, despite both teams having their opportunities to score. It was not until the final few moments when Great Lakes finally broke through, Rylie Kramer scoring off an assist from Solara Sheldon to put GLCC ahead late. In the 89th minute, Emily Rector added an insurance goal to put the match away and preserve GLCC's top ranking in the NCCAA DII polls.
Great Lakes took 13 shots to Grace's seven, putting seven on frame. All three of Grace's shots on target were saved by GLCC's goalkeepers, Rachel Weinclaw and Katarzyna Polek, who combined for the clean sheet. Amiah Lake made five saves for Grace.
If Great Lakes and Grace Christian are to meet again, it will have to be in a regional or national tournament, as they are not sheduled for a rematch during the regular season.
GLCC will return to action on Friday at Andrews University in Berrien Springs for a 1:00 kickoff.
