HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Great Lakes Christian College women's soccer is ranked #1 in NCCAA II, but NAIA Huntington proved too much for them on Tuesday, beating them 2-1.
Huntington dominated the game from the beginning and immediately took a 1-0 lead, Courtney McKown scoring in the second minute. Despite the constant pressure, GLCC kept Huntington from extending their lead in the first half and went to the break down only 1-0.
After halftime, Randi Fitzgerald scored an equalizer for Great Lakes in the 62nd, but Huntington responded with the winner eight minutes later from Reagan Sanderson.
Fitzgerald's goal was GLCC's only shot in the entire game. Huntington took 25 shots, putting 18 on goal. Rachel Weinclaw made an impresive 15 saves for Great Lakes to keep it close.
Great Lakes' road trip will continue on Friday when they take on Harris-Stowe.
