Women's Volleyball Re-Launches with Pair of Losses at Dayspring
MUNDELEIN, Ill. - Great Lakes Christian College women's volleyball made its return this weekend, dropping two games at Dayspring Bible College on Friday and Saturday.
Great Lakes took an early lead in the first set in Friday's opener, but Dayspring grabbed their first lead on a 4-0 run to take a 14-11 lead and closed out the first set with seven unanswered points to take the set, 25-14.
Dayspring continued their run into set two, jumping out to a 5-1 lead and riding a 10-2 run to take a two-set lead. GLCC took the lead at the start of the third set, but Dayspring ripped off 14 unanswered points to take a commanding 15-4 lead. Great Lakes cut the deficit to six, but Dayspring closed out the match with a 6-0 run to win three sets to none.
Dayspring continued to troll on Saturday, sweeping the visitors in straight sets, 3-0, to put Great lakes in an 0-2 hole to start the season.
Despite the losses, head coach Christy Lambright was optimistic. "I'm proud of the fight our team exhibited over the weekend," she said. "Despite unexpected curveballs thrown our way, they persevered, kept a positive attitude and never gave up."
The team will be in action next on September 15 at 6:30 p.m. in a regional game at Grace Christian University.
