Christy Lambright Named Head Women's Volleyball Coach

Great Lakes Christian College and the Great Lakes Christian College Athletic Department are excited to announce Christy Lambright has been named the next Head Women's Volleyball Coach for the Crusaders. Lambright comes back to Great Lakes Christian College after graduating from GLCC in 2005 with a double major in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications and Bible Theology with a minor in Christian Education. Lambright was heavily involved in athletics during her time at GLCC letting in basketball for three years, soccer for one, and four for volleyball. Coach Lambright was the captain for three years for the Crusaders and helped lead the program to #3 ranking during the 2002 season, the highest ranking for Great Lakes Christian Volleyball program ever. 

Coach Lambright has many years of coaching experience including five years for women's soccer and three years for women's volleyball. Lambright has worked for Youth for Christ the last nine years, and is currently serving with Greater Lansing Youth for Christ as the Development Director and Campus Life Director in Charlotte, Michigan. 

Lambright said this about coming back to coach at GLCC, "I love being a part of a team and am excited to be back on the GLCC team and be able to give back to the school and program that invested sos much in me. I look forward to joining GLCC in the mission of creating servant leaders in the church and world. I feel that sports are an important avenue to meet that goal." On what people can expect from Coach Lambright, " I highly value relationships and will strive to help each student athlete reach their full potential in the classroom, on the court, and in their personal and spiritual life." On the type of program GLCC will have, "I am a firm believe in the student-athlete model. If you don't succeed in the classroom you won't succeed on the court. I hope to build a Women's volleyball program full of integrity that will be consistently competitive on and off the court."

Director of Athletics Richard Westerlund said this about Lambright, "I could not be more excited to bring Coach Lambright on board. Christy knows this program and understands what it means to be a Crusader. I am so excited to welcome her back at GLCC. I think she will do a tremendous job developing our student-athletes on and off the court. I believe Christy has a contagious energy and enthusiasm that will attract recruits and rebuild this program back to an elite level."
