Sheldon, Conine named All-American, Sibilski coach of the year
LANSING, Mich. - Two Great Lakes Christian College women's soccer players and one coach achieved national honors this week. Casey Conine and Solara Sheldon were given first-team All-American honors and head coach Sam Sibilski was named national coach of the year.
Conine and Sheldon are GLCC's first women's soccer first-team All-Americans while Sibilski is the school's first-ever national coach of the year.
Conine finished third on the team with nine goals as a defender while also picking up three assists in only 10 games. She also converted both of her penalties.
Sheldon started all 18 games for Great Lakes, scoring six goals and tallying six assists. Both her and Conine were crucial components of an attack that averaged 3.17 goals per game in a national championship campaign. Earlier this year, she and Conine were both also named first-team all-region.
Sibilski led Great Lakes to a national championship in his second year with the program. His team won 13 of 18 games, went wire-to-wire as the top team in the polls and closed the season on three straight wins to claim both regional and national banners. Sibilski also earned regional coach of the year honors earlier this year.
