Six for Women's Soccer go All-Region, Sibilski Coach of the Year
LANSING, Mich. - Six Great Lakes Christian College women's soccer players were honored with All-Region honors this season, including three first-teamers. Head coach Sam Sibilski was named regional coach of the year.
Hannah Rossner, Casey Conine and Solara Sheldon were all named to the first All-Region team.
Rossner earned her second-straight All-Region first team nod after started eight games for GLCC before a knee injury ended her season. In those eight games, Great Lakes went 7-1 and conceded 1.11 goals per game.
In seven games, Conine scored eight goals and tallied three assists, including a four-goal performance against Maranatha Baptist.
Sheldon started all 15 games for GLCC, scoring six goals and dishing out six assists.
Randi Fitzgerald, Ashley Owens and Morgan Chamberlain were named to the second All-Region team, Fitzgerald and Chamberlain for the second time.
Fitzgerald finished second on the team with nine goals, Owens started every game GLCC's defense which allowed 1.53 goals per game and Chamberlain picked up five goals and three assists.
Sibilski, having guided his team to a 10-4-1 record and number-one rank in the national NCCAA DII polls, earned the first regional coach of the year award in GLCC history.
"I am immensely proud of Coach Sam," said athletics director Rich Westerlund. "He's worked tirelessly to build our program from scratch. He dserved all the credit and recognition. I'm thankful he's on our team."
Great Lakes, as the one-seed in the Mideast Region, will play for a regional championship and a spot in the national championship tournament on Saturday at noon at Boyce College.
