Women's Basketball Shows Grit But Drop Overtime Decision To Simmons
Women's Basketball pushed Simmons (KY) to the limit but fell 93–83 in overtime on January 29 at the St. Stephens Family Life Center. The Crusaders battled from the opening tip and stayed within striking distance all night, trailing just 46–38 at halftime before matching Simmons basket-for-basket through the second half. Great Lakes Christian forced overtime behind a balanced offensive effort and strong rebounding, highlighted by Dalys McGuinnis’ 29 points and 15 rebounds and Marin Abe’s efficient 18-point performance. MaKensie Mondy added 17 points and eight rebounds, helping the Crusaders overcome shooting struggles from beyond the arc. In the extra period, Simmons pulled away behind a dominant performance from Morgan Defoor, who scored a game-high 51 points. Despite the loss, Great Lakes Christian showed resilience and depth in a hard-fought road contest.
