Great Lakes Christian College Faces Off Against Welch and #1 Pensacola Christian
Great Lakes Christian College competed against Welch College and the top-ranked Pensacola Christian College in Gallatin, TN this past weekend.
Game 1: Great Lakes Christian vs. Welch College – 58-59 Loss
On Friday night, GLCC battled against Welch College but ultimately came up just short, losing 58-59.
MaKensie Mondy led the way for the Crusaders with 18 points and 13 rebounds in a standout double-double performance. MyKenzie Kent also had a big game, contributing 20 points and 10 boards, recording another double-double. Leah Yanko added 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Despite a solid third-quarter defensive effort (holding Welch to just 3 points, while scoring 16), Welch hung on for the win.
Game 2: Great Lakes Christian vs. #1 Pensacola Christian - 62-82 Loss
In the second game of the weekend, the Crusaders faced their toughest challenge yet, going up against the top-ranked Pensacola Christian College. Though GLCC fell 62-82, the Crusaders were competitive throughout the game and remained within single digits for much of the contest.
MaKensie Mondy continued her strong play, scoring 24 points while grabbing 5 rebounds. Leah Yanko also had a solid outing, pouring in 22 points and hitting 5 of her 10 attempts from beyond the arc. She also added 6 rebounds.
Despite the final score, the Crusaders showed grit, especially in the second half.
Great Lakes heads to Grace Christian University on Tuesday for an NCCAA Midwest Regional match up at 5pm.
