Men's Soccer Place Five on All Region Teams
LANSING, MI.- Great Lakes Christian College Men's Soccer program continued a special season when post season awards were announced as five Crusaders were named to the NCCAA Mideast All Region Teams including three to the 1st Team. Three first teamers is the first time since the program restart the Crusaders have had 1st Team All Region Players. Even better news for the Crusaders is the fact all five student athletes are sophomores or younger so the future is bright for this young Crusader squad who already spent more than half the year ranked in the top 10 for the NCCAA and will compete at the region tournament Thursday as the 4 seed taking on Alice Lloyd at 2p in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
1st Teamers
Abdelbassit Adam- Forward: Adam the physical gifted forward for GLCC proved to be problems for every team on the GLCC schedule with his ability to disrupt opposing teams backlines, he was a true target forward for the Crusaders scoring 11 goals and dishing out 4 assists for total of 26 points.
Joel Kisukulu- Midfield: Kisukulu who missed the Crusaders final five games due to a broken hand could have had an even bigger year, but expect him back for regionals. The freshman winger creativity and dynmaic playmaking were on display everytime he was on the field. Kisukulu scored 8 goals and dished out three assists in just eight games. He was third on the Crusaders in points on the season despite the shortened campaign.
Marshall Eva- Outside Back: Eva transitioned to defense for the Crusaders after the first game and immediately solidified the outside for GLCC. Marshall skill on the ball and one on one defending impressed the region. Eva led the Crusaders in assists from the defensive spot dishing out 6 assists while also scoring two goals.
Honorable Mention
Leonce Ndayisaba: Midfield- Ndayisaba is the tireless working midfielder that is the engine behind the GLCC attack. His presence is felt in the midfield every game. Ndayisaba was recognized for his efforts. He scored three goals while dishing out five assists from the central midfield position.
Kenan Kennedy: Forward- Kennedy turned it on late for the Crusaders scoring 8 of his thirteen goals in the final 6 games of the season. Kennedy led the Crusaders in scoring and points from the wing position. Kennedy finished the regular season with 28 points.
