Men's Basketball comes back to beat #8 Grace in Detroit
DETROIT - Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball came back from a 17-0 deficit to defeat NCCAA DII #8 Grace Christian University 93-89 at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday.
Grace build their lead quickly and GLCC did not score its first bucket until nearly five minutes into the game. Once Great Lakes began chipping away however, the gap closed and the game was tied at 50 by halftime.
The teams traded the lead in the second half until Great Lakes pulled ahead late, holding on for their seventh-straight win.
The game was the fifth in the Detroit series between the two men's basketball programs. Grace holds a 3-2 series lead with GLCC winning the last two meetings.
TQ Belcher led all scorers with 29 off the bench for Great Lakes, including nine three-pointers. Kylan Shipp scored 17 and picked up a half-dozen steals.
Kellum Bridgeforth scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Grace. Jarius Shumpert added 17 and eight rebounds.
Great Lakes will take on Moody at the Doty Center on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
