Men's Basketball beats #3 Harrodsburg in overtime again
LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball went to overtime with NCCAA DII #3 Campbellsville Harrodsburg for the second time this season on Saturday, and for the second time this season GLCC came away with the win, 101-95 over their regional opponents.
Harrodsburg built a nine-point lead in the first half, but Great Lakes whittled it down to two by halftime. The teams traded the lead back and forth early in the second, but CUH started to build their advantage once again, leading by 13 with 9:11 to go in the period.
GLCC responded with an 11-0 run to cut the lead to two once again and tied the game at 77 with 4:29 on the clock, but could not re-take the lead. Harrodsburg held a five-point lead with 2:08 left, but Great Lakes came back again with a 6-1 run, including a three-point play from Kylan Shipp with eight seconds remaining to tie the score at 86 and send the game to overtime.
Harrodsburg scored the first four points of the extra frame, but GLCC ripped off 12 straight points to take the lead for good. CUH never closed the gap to less than four and Great Lakes hung on to win 101-95 and keep its winning streak intact.
Shipp led all scorers with 27 points. Trent Temple scored 23 and Whitney Harris registered a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Mason Blair led CUH's five double-digit scorers with 23 points. Six different players for Harrodsburg picked up at least six rebounds, led by Jeron Tinsley's eight.
GLCC will return to action on Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena against Grace Christian University.
