Spring Arbor outlasts Men's Basketball at the Doty
LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball dropped its second-straight close game to a Crossroads League opponent on Saturday, missing a shot in the final seconds in an 85-83 loss to Spring Arbor.
Spring Arbor went on a 16-0 run in the first half to open up a 32-19 lead, but Great Lakes clawed back and re-took the lead, 42-40 at halftime.
SAU grabbed the lead right back at the start of the second half and the two teams traded the lead for most of the second. Spring Arbor opened up a six-point lead late, but GLCC came back to take a one-point lead with less than two minutes remaining.
GLCC's offense went cold down the stretch, only scoring two points in the final two minutes as SAU took the lead once again. Kylan Shipp had an opportunity in the final seconds, but the shot bounced off the rim and Spring Arbor rebounded to ice a road win.
Joshua Laman led all players in scoring and rebounding with 29 points and eight rebounds for Spring Arbor, who shot an efficient 55.7% (34/61) from the field. Daniel Cluster added 16 off the bench.
TQ Belcher, Trent Temple and Whitney Harris all scored 17 for Great Lakes, who made 28 of 68 field goals (41.2%) and 11 out of 31 (35.5%) from three. Great Lakes forced 18 turnovers on defense.
GLCC will be on the road next week at the NCCAA Early Season Classic, taking on Trinity Baptist at Boyce College on Thursday.
