Men's Basketball wins game two at JFB Classic over Welch
WYOMING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball has won five of its first six games for the first time following an 83-75 win over Welch College on Saturday at the JFB Classic at Grace Christian University.
Welch took the lead in the first half, going up 39-31 by halftime. Great Lakes recovered in the second half, outscoring Welch 52-36 in the final 20 minutes to move ahead and grab the win.
Welch out-shot GLCC from the floor, making 30 of 62 field goals (48.4%) and eight of 18 three-pointers (44.4%). Great Lakes shot 25/57 (43.9%) from the floor and 7/21 (33.3%) from three. The different was made at the free throw line, where GLCC took 30 attempts, making 26 (86.7%) while Welch scored seven of 10 (70%).
Kylan Shipp lead all scorers with 24 points, including 14 free throws on 15 attempts. Whitney Harris scored 12 and Trent Temple got 10.
Yoshi Kendrick led Welch with 23 points. Spencer Smith scored 19.
Great Lakes will have a tough test next Tuesday, when they face NAIA #2 St. Francis at 7:00 in the Doty Center.
